Back in 2004, my wife Carey and I went on a short-term mission trip to Costa Rica with Missionaries Bill and Cindy Murdock. I did not know Bro. Murdock personally before we went on this mission trip. Although Temple Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN was his sending church, he spent much of his time on the road to further the work he had begun decades earlier in Costa Rica. I so treasure those brief days I got to spend with Bill and Cindy.. Their love for the Lord Jesus shown through their hospitality and genuine care for us. I also look back on that trip as pivotal in my understanding of foreign mission work. Although Bro. Bill did not do any preaching while we were there, his love for the people of that country was so evident. Over the last 30 years he had planted numerous churches that were still vibrant and growing.
Recently I was thrilled to discovered a tape of Bro. Bill preaching at my home church from 1990. What a treasure! This message really reveals the heart of this missionary and his love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
