Father, I long, I faint to see<\/span>
\n<\/span>The place of thine abode;<\/span>
\n<\/span>I’d leave thine earthly courts, and flee<\/span>
\n<\/span>Up to thy seat, my God!<\/span><\/p>\n

Here I behold thy distant face,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And ’tis a pleasing sight;<\/span>
\n<\/span>But to abide in thine embrace<\/span>
\n<\/span>Is infinite delight.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’d part with all the joys of sense<\/span>
\n<\/span>To gaze upon thy throne;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Pleasure springs fresh for ever thence,<\/span>

Then at thy feet with awful fear<\/span>

There I would vie with all the host<\/span>
\n<\/span>In duty and in bliss;<\/span>
\n<\/span>While “less than nothing” I could boast,<\/span>
