O for a closer walk with God,
\n<\/span>A calm and heavenly frame,<\/span>
\n<\/span>A light to shine upon the road<\/span>
\n<\/span>That leads me to the Lamb!<\/span><\/p>\n

Where is the blessedness I knew<\/span>
\n<\/span>When first I sought the Lord?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Where is the soul refreshing view<\/span>
\n<\/span>Of Jesus and his Word?<\/span><\/p>\n

What peaceful hours I once enjoyed!<\/span>
\n<\/span>How sweet their memory still!<\/span>
\n<\/span>But they have left an aching void<\/span>
\n<\/span>the world can never fill.<\/span><\/p>\n

The dearest idol I have known,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Whate’er that idol be,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Help me to tear it from thy throne<\/span>
\n<\/span>And worship only thee.<\/span><\/p>\n

So shall my walk be close with God,<\/span>
