The music for this reading is \u201cRainbow<\/a>\u201d by Borrtex<\/a> and was adapted for length under a Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC 4.0)<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n How lost was my condition,<\/span><\/p>\n Till Jesus made me whole !<\/span><\/p>\n There is but one Physician<\/span><\/p>\n Can cure a sin-sick soul !<\/span><\/p>\n Next door to death He found me,<\/span><\/p>\n And snatch’d me from the grave;<\/span><\/p>\n To tell to all around me<\/span><\/p>\n His wondrous power to save.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The worst of all diseases<\/span><\/p>\n Is light compared with sin;<\/span><\/p>\n On every part it seizes,<\/span><\/p>\n But rages most within :<\/span><\/p>\n ‘Tis palsy, dropsy, fever,<\/span><\/p>\n And madness\u2014all combined;<\/span><\/p>\n And none but a believer<\/span><\/p>\n The least relief can find.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n From men great skill professing<\/span><\/p>\n I thought a cure to gain;<\/span><\/p>\n But this proved more distressing,<\/span><\/p>\n And added to my pain.<\/span><\/p>\n Some said that nothing ail’d me,<\/span><\/p>\n Some gave me up for lost;<\/span><\/p>\n Thus every refuge fail’d me,<\/span><\/p>\n And all my hopes were cross’d.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n At length this great Physician<\/span><\/p>\n (How matchless is His grace !)<\/span><\/p>\n Accepted my petition,<\/span><\/p>\n And undertook my case :<\/span><\/p>\n First gave me sight to view Him,<\/span><\/p>\n For sin my eyes had seal’d; –<\/span><\/p>\n Then bid me look unto Him,\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n I look’d, and I was heal’d.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A dying, risen Jesus,<\/span><\/p>\n Seen by the eye of faith,<\/span><\/p>\n At once from anguish frees us,<\/span><\/p>\n And saves the soul from death.<\/span><\/p>\n Come, then, to this Physician,<\/span><\/p>\n His help He’ll freely give-;<\/span><\/p>\n He makes no hard condition,<\/span><\/p>\n ‘Tis only\u2014Look and live!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Olney Hymns, Book 1, #62, “The Good Physician” by John Newton, English Anglican clergyman (1725 \u2013 1807) The music for this reading is \u201cRainbow\u201d by Borrtex and was adapted for length under a Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
