My Greatest Desire and Joy
For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of serving the Lord Jesus Christ in various capacities—Sunday school teacher, lay preacher, senior pastor, and missionary/evangelist—throughout the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. My greatest desire and deepest joy lie in preaching and teaching God’s Word, with the hope that others may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and walk with Him daily.
My Story
I was born in Chattanooga, TN. I was raised in nearby town of Trenton, Ga. by my parents James and Brenda Brown. After graduating from Northwest Georgia High School in 1991, I attended Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina for two years (1991-1993). While at Brevard, I played basketball on scholarship for the Brevard College Tornadoes. After graduating from Brevard, I transferred to the Southern College of Technology where I walked on to the Southern Tech Runnin’ Hornet Basketball team and played for my final two years of eligibility.
During my junior year at Southern Tech, my life began to spiral out of control. In a moment of sobering personal realization and deep conviction by the Holy Spirit, I cried out to God as I was driving down I-75 toward Atlanta, asking Him to save me from my sinful condition. In that very moment, God reached into that moving car and changed my life forever.
In 1998, I returned to my hometown of Trenton, GA, after living in Atlanta for several years, and married a beautiful woman named Carey Green. While attending Temple Baptist Church, God began to work in my heart through the powerful preaching of Dr. Ken Trivette, my pastor. On July 22, 2001, I surrendered to the call to preach God’s Word. Since then, I have felt a deep calling to minister in local county jails and rescue missions. After preaching revivals and special services in various area churches for several years, I was called in 2007 to serve as the bi-vocational pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, which later reorganized into Bethany Baptist Church. I continued in this role until 2017.
Since 2020, I have pastored Faith Community Church in my hometown of Trenton, Georgia, while also serving as a leader in the Celebrate Recovery ministry at Dallas Bay Church in Hixson, TN. In 2024, I resigned as pastor of Faith Community Church due to health reasons. However, I am looking forward to recovery so I can focus on writing, evangelism, and continuing my ministry in rescue missions, local county jails, and addiction recovery programs.
