Just Good Preachin’ Episode 5 – Evangelist Earl Hughes – A Look At Calvary – February 1989
I found a tape the other day that I finally got to listen to today. It is a message from Evangelist Earl Hughes from February 1989. Bro. Hughes was born August 9, 1927 in Mascot, TN. He was an evangelist for over 60 years, serving many different churches all over the United States. He was so traveled that his Geo Metro had 650,000 miles on it when he died. He was a mountain preacher with an unusual unction of God on his ministry.
This message was so powerful! I’ll just share one point that so blessed my heart. In the message he said that when Jesus died on the cross, “…the purchase was not worth the price. Jesus didn’t get a bargain on the cross. But he wasn’t looking for a bargain. He was looking for an old hell deserving sinner that he might reach a way and rescue from the perishings of hell!” Glory to God! All I can thing of is that song “Much Too High A Price”
“You paid much too high a price for me
Your tears, your blood, the pain
To have my soul just stirred at times
Yet never truly changed
You deserve a fiery love
That won’t ignore your sacrifice
Because you paid much too high a price.”
