After the service last night, a young man (he looked to be a in his mid to later 20’s) came up to be and talked to me about the preaching that comes through the mission. He talked about how the hard hell-fire preaching seems to be useless and ineffective. I think this is a good lesson to myself and all preachers. There is a ditch on both sides of the road. God is just and loving. Jesus is receptive to those that come, but a cross is required. Let this be a lesson. Gospel preaching without the love and grace of God, is harsh and unreasonable. Gospel preaching without the demands of repentance and self-denial, is irrelevant, untruthful and produces false converts.
